The word "impact" has two common definitions: the first of which is to "come into forcible contact with another object," and the other is to "have a strong effect on someone or something." In the case of the Impact table, both definitions are applicable. From a design perspective, the table clearly appears to be impacted upon—whether by a drop of water or an asteroid, the interpretation is left purposefully open-ended. The open-endedness of the Impact table's design aims to inspire deeper thought and meaningful conversations between those who gather around it.
